Gerald Ford was an American politician. A Republican, he served as the 38th President of the United States, from August 9, 1974 to January 20, 1977. He was previously the 40th Vice President of the United States, from December 6, 1973 to August 9, 1974, and took over as President upon Richard Nixon’s resignation.
